Cesar Pelli shares reading list on Designers & Books

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Feb. 7, 2012) — Cesar Pelli reveals the five books about design he considers indispensible on Designers and Books, a web site that explores the relationship between designers and what they read.

Pelli’s reading list is posted today on Designers & Books, a site devoted to publishing lists of books that esteemed members of the design community identify as personally important, meaningful, and formative—books that have shaped their values, their worldview, and their ideas about design. The year-old site publishes lists and commentary from invited contributors weekly.

Designers & Books also includes book titles by the contributors to encourage comments, generate debate, and facilitate discussions. In a related blog post, Designers & Books asks Pelli about his 1999 book, Observations for Young Architects, which the site calls “an insightful and thought-provoking assessment of the work that architects do and the uniqueness and core characteristics of the architectural profession.” Pelli shares his thoughts about the book 13 years after its publication.
