New headquarters for Banco Macro now under construction

BUENOS AIRES (Sept. 12, 2013) – A new tower for Banco Macro designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects recently started construction in Buenos Aires. This 30-story headquarters building is being built in Catalinas Norte, a downtown business district. The building is adjacent to Torre BankBoston, also by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects.

The tower is nearly elliptical in plan with a gentle inward curve as the tower rises and a sloping tower top that includes a curving plane facing the city. The building features triple-height floors at the top levels for presidential offices and amenities including a cafeteria, a gymnasium, and a daycare center. A retail bank is on the ground floor. Incorporating high-performance building systems and sustainable materials, the building is being designed for a LEED Gold rating.

Torre Banco Macro is expected to be completed in 2016.
