Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects Hosts Symposium for Salesforce Transit Center

San Francisco, California (July 30, 2018), Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects is hosting a symposium on Saturday, August 4, 2018 celebrating the grand opening of the Salesforce Transit Center.

 “There is much enthusiasm and desire to learn about the Salesforce Transit Center. We are thrilled to be able to share this in depth look at the making of the Transit Center with the community,” commented event organizer Fred Clarke, Senior Design Principal, Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects.

The symposium consists of morning and afternoon sessions:

First Session 10:00AM to 12:00PM Sustainable Urban and Economic Development

The session begins with a keynote by Alison Isenberg of Princeton University, who recently released a book detailing the growth of San Francisco.  Panel participants include Moderator Fred Clarke, Senior Design Principal, Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects; John Rahaim, Planning Director, City and County of San Francisco; John King, Urban Design Critic, San Francisco Chronicle; Adam Greenspan, Design Partner, PWP Landscape Architecture; and Claire Maxfield, LEED Fellow Director, Atelier Ten.

Second Session 1:00PM to 3:00PM Salesforce Transit Center: Humanizing Infrastructure

This session highlights the artists, their work and creative design elements of the project. The session begins with a keynote by the eminent Sir Roger Penrose, mathematical physicist of Oxford University, who worked closely with Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects to develop the pattern used on the exterior walls of the Transit Center. Panel participants include Moderator Jill Manton, Director of Policy and Planning, San Francisco Arts Commission; James Carpenter Artist: Creator of “Parallel Light Fields,” Shaw Alley Installation;  Jenny Holzer Artist: Creator of “White Light” Grand Hall Installation presented by Jill Manton; Julie Chang Artist: Creator of “Secret Garden,” Grand Hall Terrazzo Floor Installation;  Ned Kahn Artist: Creator of “Bus Fountain,” Salesforce Park Installation; and Fred Clarke, Senior Design Principal, Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects.

The Salesforce Transit Center Opening Symposium will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 from 10:00AM to 3:00PM in the Salesforce Transit Center Grand Hall located at 425 Mission Street in San Francisco.  Seating is limited and reservations are required.
