CHICAGO (Oct. 23, 2013) — Mitchell Hirsch, principal in charge for the design of the new Theatre School at DePaul University, will join the school’s dean for a talk today at the Chicago Architecture Foundation.

Hirsch and John Culbert will discuss the collaborative design process for the building, which focuses on openness and transparency and highlights the activities taking place inside. Among the building’s notable features is a fourth-floor glass-walled theater that projects from the corner. Theater patrons walk past classrooms and rehearsal rooms on their way to a performance there. In addition, workshops, which are normally hidden in theater buildings, are visible from the street.

The talk, entitled Architecture is “Art — On Display: Designing a Theatre Training Ground” is part of the LunchTalks@CAF series. For more information, visit the Chicago Architecture Foundation.
