Residential Projects under Construction in Manhattan and Philadelphia

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (January 25, 2016)  PCPA has a new residential building under construction in Manhattan. It is the firm’s twelfth project to grace the city’s skyline. One West End is part of Riverside Center, a 5-tower, 8-acre premier development located along the western edge of Manhattan, linking Midtown and the Upper West Side. Striking for its angled stone façade and deeply set punch-windows, the motif recalls the scale and rhythms of the Upper West Side’s established residential neighborhoods. The building is scheduled to open the end of 2016.

In Philadelphia, PCPA designed FMC Tower, a new 47-story building that completes the Cira South development around 39th Street Station, which began with PCPA’s Cira Centre. Situated prominently at the entrance to the University of Pennsylvania, FMC is a dynamic addition to a vibrant neighborhood. Echoing Cira Centre’s angled, crystalline form sheathed in a reflective curtain wall and sharing the riverfront view, FMC Tower is the new gateway. In addition to 260 apartments and corporate suites, the building includes 575,000 SF office space and 10,000 sf retail. The building is scheduled to open the end of 2016.

The design team for both projects included Senior Design Principals Cesar Pelli FAIA and Fred Clarke FAIA, Principal in Charge Mark Shoemaker AIA, and Project Manager Graham Banks RA.
