St. Katharine Drexel Chapel wins a “Religious Architecture: New Facilities” Honor Award

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (August 27, 2015.) – PCPA is pleased to receive a 2015 honor award from Faith & Form Magazine and The Interfaith Forum on Religion, Art, and Architecture for our project St. Katharine Drexel Chapel, Xavier University of Louisiana, New Orleans. The 2015 Design Awards Jury, chaired by Rev. Robb Webb, convened at The Duke Endowment, Charlotte, North Carolina on August 4 and 5 to judge the entries.

Sited at the heart of Xavier University, previously occupied by a student center damaged during Hurricane Katrina, the St. Katherine Drexel Chapel, named for the founder of the school, embraces the spiritual core of the campus. Its front entry aligns with the balcony of Xavier’s administration building, where Pope John Paul II spoke in 1987.

Winning entries will be published in the Winter 2015 Awards Issue of Faith & Form magazine and an exhibition of award-winning projects will be displayed at the 2016 National Convention of the American Institute of Architects in Philadelphia May 19-21, 2016, where the Awards Presentation will be made.

This is the third design award for St. Katharine Drexel Chapel. Last year it won an AIA CT Citation and in 2013 it receive Best Use of Daylighting from theArchitectural Lighting design awards program.
