Vietcombank Tower superstructure construction to begin

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam (June 20, 2012) —Vietcombank Tower’s owners have a signed a contract to build the tower’s superstructure, the major components of Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects’  first tower in Vietnam. This next phase of construction will begin in the coming weeks.

Vietcombank-Bonday-Benthanh Joint Venture Company Ltd. has hired general contractor COFICO. Officials from the two companies joined a signing ceremony attended by representatives from Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, project manager Apave, cost estimator RLB, structural engineer Meinhardt, local architect Ong & Ong and as all of the subcontractors for the super structure.

As Vietcombank’s Ho Chi Minh City headquarters, the building will include the bank’s flagship retail location, executive offices and Class A office space for international tenants. The 35-story tower will be the tallest building on Me Linh Square, a prime location on the west bank of the Saigon River.

Construction of the 35-story tower’s below-grade structure started in 2010.
