Citigroup Tower+ expand detail
1.6 million square feet / 149,000 square meters
This 42-story Citigroup headquarters tower is adjacent to a 17-story Citigroup building. The tower faces two parks, one with the Jubilee Line Station to the south and Canada Square Park, with its shopping mall below, to the north.
The tower has a centric composition that gently tapers towards the top. A tracery of stainless steel modulates the curtain wall, which is clad in energy efficient neutral glass to optimizing natural light and views. The stainless steel super-grid on the curtain wall enhances the tower’s formal order and aligns with the super-grid of the adjacent Citibank building, designed by Norman Foster and Partners, to form a common building base. The tower top is crystalline and transparent, a crowning gesture when lit at night.
The tower joins the One Canada Square, also designed by Pelli Clark Pelli Architects, and the 42-story HSBC tower. The three towers, together with the retail and park connecting them, contain more than 325,160 square meters (3.5 million square feet) of net commercial space.
