Master Plan, Universidad Siglo 21+ expand detail
90 acres / 36 hectares
This master plan for a new campus, designed in collaboration with Balmori Associates, is a modern interpretation of the traditional American university campus — one that carefully balances buildings with open spaces and the presence of vehicular traffic. The goal of this campus design was to create a pedestrian environment that would enhance and enliven the special and day-to-day activities of the institution.
The campus consists of two main axes, each expressing different yet complementary characters. El Paseo Peatonal, the east-west axis, is urban in nature and serves as the main circulation spine on which the primary campus buildings are located. The north-south axis — comprising a main quadrangle, La Plaza Mayor, and a grand esplanade, El Prado — is a cascading, green corridor with views to the city center and leads to a new picturesque lake at the southern end of the campus.
