Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects Associate Principal Ann Marie Baranowski, FAIA LEED AP was a featured speaker in the 92nd Street Y’s series on Current Trends in Public Art. Her lecture, art + architecture in (public) place, addressed the parameters for how art and architecture make meaningful places in the public realm. Drawing on the idea that inspired place-making enriches experience and provides social benefit through creating a unified whole, she examined three projects (South Ferry Terminal, Fulton Center and Salesforce Transit Center) which illustrate design as an optimistic, collective act that requires the logistics of precise integration.
The series is moderated by Cathie Behrend, former deputy
director of the Percent for Art program in the NYC Department of Cultural
Affairs and founder of Ventures in Vision.
