Partner Craig Copeland Featured Presenter at ArchInTrend

6 December 2021

Pelli Clarke & Partners’ Craig Copeland was a featured presenter at the ArchInTrend event in Milan, Italy on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. ARCH in TREND and Platform Magazine, as part of MADExpo Milan 2021, from November 22-25, invited 20 international architects, including Craig Copeland to present their designs in a four-day forum of the world’s most original and innovative architectural façade solutions. Copeland presented 2100 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington DC, with an expressive façade of high-performance curtain wall that features an innovative use of contiguous insulated concave and convex vision glass units. Prominently visible along Pennsylvania Avenue, 21st Street and I-Street frontages, 2100 Penn emulates the streamlined icons of New York’s Flatiron Building and Barcelona’s Casa Mila, with a nod to Alvar and Aino Aalto’s iconic Savoy Vase.

“Speaking in-person this year at ARCH in TREND at MADExpo Milan 2021 was an honor,” said Partner Craig Copeland. “It was invigorating to participate directly in the dialogues with other leaders in pioneering architecture firms about emerging strategies of building design, specifically on topics of high-performance facades and more broadly on making the most positive global impacts through innovative architectural planning.”

Luca Molinari, Editorial Director of Platform Magazine, stated the essential relevance of ARCH in TREND and MADExpo 2021 in his editorial to Platform’s vol 32, which showcases work from all the event’s speakers: “in between” is, in fact, the title of this new issue of Platform, which attempts to bring together works, visions, and projects by many authors in Italy and around the world who still look at architecture as a challenge and a research process in which language and its possible imperfections are the reason for a form of constant experimentation to strive for in a time of such profound transformations.”
