Partner Mark Shoemaker Participates in Visionary Design Panel
Mark Shoemaker, AIA, Principal of Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, participated in the AKA University City Visionary Design Panel. The event was hosted by Jerry Sweeney and Larry Korman and moderated by Frederick “Fritz” Steiner—Dean of the University of Pennsylvania School of Design. The panel featured discussion on the development and design of FMC Tower and University City, Philadelphia’s first vertical neighborhood.
The 830,000-square-foot tower, completed in 2016, features an angled, glass façade, which faces Schuylkill River, Penn Park, and downtown Philadelphia. University City neighborhood is also home to Cira Centre, designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects. In addition to housing the FMC Corporation headquarters and University of Pennsylvania offices, the 47-story, mixed-use tower is home to apartments, retail shops, and dining.
