Trinity Commons named Finalist in the 2025 ULI Americas Awards for Excellence in Development

17 May 2025

Trinity Commons has been chosen as a finalist in the 2025 Urban Land Institute (ULI) Americas Awards for Excellence in Development. This recognition highlights the project’s outstanding contributions to urban development and its embodiment of ULI’s mission to shape the future of the built environment.

Situated behind and connected to Richard Upjohn’s historic 1846 Trinity Church via a pedestrian bridge, the 27-story, 445-foot-tall building spans 317,600 square feet. Its design thoughtfully blends contemporary architecture with the Church’s rich heritage, complementing its legacy. Completed in 2021, the building serves as a cornerstone of Trinity Church’s mission, providing inclusive community spaces alongside premier office facilities. The first ten floors are dedicated public space with an inviting public lobby, community outreach spaces, a full-court gymnasium, a restaurant-training kitchen, common spaces for children and teens, art and dance studios, and classrooms. At the heart of the Commons is Parish Hall – a flexible space that accommodates 300 people for events and worship.

The facade features copper and bronze colors to blend with the original church’s brownstone exterior, and the vertical piers are in relation to the church’s spire. Trinity Commons repurposes stormwater, uses a cogeneration plant, a resiliency-focused generator, LED lights, occupancy sensors, advanced controls and incorporates flood barriers. The tower was awarded LEED Gold.
