Two Buildings Receive Award of Excellence at the 2023 CTBUH Awards

18 October 2023

Pelli Clarke & Partners is delighted to announce that two landmark buildings have been honored with the Award of Excellence at the 2023 Council of Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) conference: Torre Mitikah in Mexico City won the Best Tall Building Americas award; 1 Corporate Ave in Wuhan won the Best Tall Building Asia award. These buildings demonstrate excellence in design, sustainability, innovation and enhance their respective city skylines.

The signature high-rise building of Ciudad Viva in the Coyoacán neighborhood of Mexico City, Torre Mítikah provides 119,500 square meters (1.1 million square feet) of residential space to create a contemporary and vibrant neighborhood center where “live-work-play and rest” is celebrated. Standing at 267-meter (879 ft.) tall, Torre Mitikah is currently the tallest tower in Mexico City.

1 Corporate Avenue embraces Wuhan’s freshwater and commercial heritage, as well as its emergence as a political, economic, and cultural center. Inspired by the sampans that once crowded the Yangtze River, the curving façade of the tower features a sail-like appearance that, together with the two other towers in the development, give the illusion as if they are about to cruise upriver.

Senior Associate Celia Toche, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP, accompanied with Alonso Ruiz de Velasco of PARKS Desarrolladora, will accept the award for Torre Mitikah; the award for 1 Corporate Avenue will be accepted by Hongxi Yang, Director of PC&P’s Shanghai Office and Michel Hsiung, General Manager of Development Planning & Design of Shui On Land.

The 2023 CTBUH conference, which is being held October 16-21, is focused on the theme of Humanizing High Density—People, Nature & the Urban Realm, advancing the fundamental premise that high-density urbanization can support healthy living, working, and civic and social engagement. It will examine issues of livability in the ongoing discourse about future cities. To learn more, visit their website at
