Pelli Clarke & Partners sweeps the 2024 American Architecture Awards

Pelli Clarke & Partners is pleased to announce five of its projects have been awarded with honors at the Chicago Athenaeum’s American Architecture Awards. Out of 500 shortlisted projects, a jury selected 150 projects and over 50 honorable mentions. Chengdu Museum of History, One Congress, and Salesforce Tower Chicago were awarded with an American Architecture Award. 2100 Pennsylvania Avenue and Mori JP Tower were awarded an Honorable Mention.

Salesforce Tower Chicago, completed in 2023, serves as Salesforce’s new headquarters in Chicago. The 60-story, 1.2-million-square-foot office tower anchors the Wolf Point development. The building achieved LEED Gold certification and opened with a 19% overall reduction in carbon emissions.

One Congress, a 43-story Class A+ office tower, redefines the Boston skyline in the Government Center Garage neighborhood. Its oval form offers sweeping views of Boston Harbor, while its interiors seamlessly integrate hospitality-inspired spaces with commercial offices. One Congress achieved LEED Platinum certification upon its opening in 2023.

Chengdu Museum of Natural History has become a transformative cultural landmark in Chengdu, China. The museum features exhibits, public spaces, retail shops, a café, and cutting-edge educational facilities. Its form reflects the natural contours of the Sichuan Basin, evoking the region’s ancient volcanic activity and tectonic shifts. The museum opened in 2022, and has won many accolades since, including 2023 Project of the Year.

The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, together with The European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and Metropolitan Arts Press, have organized The American Architecture Awards to honor the best new significant buildings and landscape and planning projects designed and constructed by American architects in the U.S. and abroad and by international architects for buildings designed and built in the United States.
