South Station Tower receives Award of Excellence at 2026 AIA CT Design Awards

South Station Tower received an Award of Excellence from the 2026 AIA Connecticut Design Awards in the Commercial, Institutional, Educational, or Multi-Family Residential Design category for projects over 25,000 square feet.

The jury recognized the project’s thoughtful coordination of architecture, transportation, and public space. Jurors highlighted its contribution to Boston’s skyline and respect for the historic station, alongside the achievement of maintaining transit operations throughout construction. The Great Space, sculpted glass tower, and expanded public spaces were commended for strengthening connections across the site.

Completed in 2025, the redevelopment of Boston South Station transforms New England’s busiest ground transportation hub into a landmark transit center and community destination. A 51-story tower introduces offices, residences, dining, and retail above the expanded station while preserving its historic 1899 headhouse. Below, the Great Space creates a generous, daylit concourse that improves connections between rail, bus, and subway services and offers travelers a welcoming arrival experience.

Partner Graham Banks, AIA, will accept the award at the AIA Connecticut Awards Gala on November 19, 2026, at the Marriott Hartford/Windsor Hotel in Windsor, Connecticut.
