Historic South Station is a new gateway for Boston
This long-awaited redevelopment project will transform New England’s busiest ground transportation hub into a landmark transit center and community destination. In the project’s first phase, a mixed-use tower will rise 51 stories from above the new concourse. The tower will be home to premium office space, luxury residences, dining, retail, and a lush green rooftop park. Later phases of the project will develop additional mixed-use space including specialized offices or residential space.
A symbol of Boston's rich history and innovative spirit
Built atop the South Station's new expansion of the existing transit center, a mixed-use tower will stretch 51 stories into Boston’s skyline. The faceted glass form, while contemporary, is sculpted to be sympathetic in massing to the historic South Station headhouse at its base.
Transit-centered community development
This public-private collaboration will transform a busy transportation hub into a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly community. Sweeping arches evoke a grand scale and uplifting sense of arrival, while also forming the structural base for the tower above. At the tower’s base, separate from the transit center’s main entrance, a multi-level podium with shuttle lobbies and elevators is a gateway to abundant amenity space for the offices, residences, and rooftop terrace dining. The amenity spaces and increased transportation capacity will greatly enhance the urban experience in this Boston neighborhood.
