The Centrale deepens New York’s glamourous cityscape with sustaining optimism
The Centrale takes its place alongside Manhattan’s iconic Midtown, neighboring the Waldorf Astoria and Chrysler Building. Strikingly slender, this residential tower reaches 71 stories with an elegant collection of 124 luxury homes and state-of-the-art lifestyle amenities. The tower’s design infuses qualities of classic 20th Century Deco with biophilic shapes and natural materials, opening the door to an inspiring home at the center of a city unlike any other.
A sanctuary of daily inspiration and comfort
Residents and guests arrive through a dramatic porte cochere that stretches from 50th to 49th street, connecting the building’s serene interior with the energetic pulse of the surrounding neighborhood. From the three-story, light-filled Great Room to the soaring garden terrace, communal spaces are inviting destinations of delight and connection. The Centrale’s curated amenities include a full-length lap pool, spa retreat, state-of-the art wellness center, conference room, and yoga studio.
Thoughtful details reveal an uplifting world of wonder
Vibrant with a sense of motion, whimsical pleats and bends of natural stone anchor the tower to the street, enhancing the city’s urban fabric. The tower’s base, body, and crown unite in symmetry through elegant crystalline switchbacks that sweep up from stone and metal screens to join a dynamic curtainwall faceted in cream and chocolate terracotta chevrons. As the light changes throughout the day, the tower is an animated and ethereal presence in Midtown’s skyline.
“Sophisticated Craft is the driving theme of our integrated interior and building design, from the volumetric compositions of amenity spaces and strategically planned residential layouts, to the podium’s folding metal screen frontages that rise and transform into a chiseled tower of terracotta and glass joining the Manhattan skyline.” — Craig Copeland, FAIA, LEED AP BD+C
