A New Gateway for Zhengzhou's Urban Heart

Zhengzhou, China

Situated at the threshold of Zhengzhou East Station, Zhengdong Mix-C City establishes a new paradigm for transit-oriented development in the city’s rapidly growing East District. Conceived as a vibrant urban center for living, working, and gathering, the master plan envisions a destination where residents and visitors converge—an international hub infused with local spirit. Inspired by the lifelines of the Yellow River and Zhengzhou’s reputation as the “Crown of the Central Plains,” the plan’s dynamic form and civic spaces embody the rhythm and vitality of the region.

Designing the Flowing City

The 7.5 million square feet Master Plan unfolds along a sweeping “Central Ridge Line,” an energetic curve that weaves together key architectural nodes in a fluid sequence. This gesture anchors the composition and reflects the power and motion of the Yellow River itself. Through a system of “Urban Corridors,” the design creates meaningful connections between public plazas, towers, and green spaces, seamlessly integrating the development into the existing urban fabric. Active street edges, welcoming plazas, and a network of public realms foster a sense of community, transforming the complex into an accessible, people-centered environment.

Towering Echoes of Mt. Song

At the heart of the plan, a family of mixed-use towers rises in dialogue with the city skyline. Their interlocking, staggered forms are inspired by the layered peaks of Mt. Song, translating the mountain’s timeless grandeur into vertical architectural expression. The resulting silhouette—rhythmic, sculptural, and light-filled—embodies both the elegance of contemporary design and the enduring beauty of nature’s forms. Together, the towers create a distinctive landmark for Zhengzhou: a new urban gateway symbolizing the city’s ascent as a global destination for innovation and culture.
